Tyler Alvarez
Bar Lead
Tyler Alvarez moved to Vail at the end of the winter of 2012/2013. Originally from Jersey Shore, he came to Vail like most for the mountain life. He realized that the snowboarding in Vail and Colorado mountains was much better than the east coast snowboarding he had been around previously.
After high school he moved to Vail without knowing what direction he wanted to go. But he did know he enjoyed the atmosphere of working in restaurants. At 15 he had his first job as a busser and worked other jobs like being a lifeguard or working in a surf shop.
Seasonal towns like Vail were not a new concept to Tyler and he understood what it took to be successful. He came to Sweet Basil after a couple of friends who worked here recommended it to him. Prior to Sweet Basil he worked at The Ore House, then El Sabor for 6 years, Vendettas and even spent a summer helping at Mountain Standard behind the bar once per week. But he finds his home behind the Sweet Basil bar and has been on the team since November 2019. In 2025 he was named Bar Lead at Sweet Basil.
When not crafting cocktails you can find Tyler snowboarding, skateboarding, being outside and active, playing guitar, and when near the ocean, surfing. He hopes to continue to grow and learn more each day to keep becoming better at whatever he pursues.
