Israel Delgado
Sous Chef
Chef Israel Delgado, originally from Lima, Peru, joined the Sweet Basil team as Sous Chef in July 2025. He has been in the mountains now for 5 years after wanting a change from tropical scenery.
Chef trained at Le Cordon Bleu in Lima, Peru and well as in Miami, FL. He also has his Bachelor’s Degree from Johnson and Whales from North Miami.
Prior to joining the Sweet Basil team, Chef Israel had the privilege of working in some of the most prestigious culinary and hospitality environments in the country, including Michelin Key properties such as Faena and Montage, as well as other Forbes Five-Star luxury resorts along the East Coast. These experiences have shaped his professional foundation, refining his attention to detail, elevating his service standards, and deepening his understanding of world-class guest experiences.
When asked what inspired him to pursue a career in culinary arts, he summed it up quite well:
My passion for cooking was born in Lima, Peru, a city internationally celebrated as a leader in global gastronomy. Growing up surrounded by vibrant flavors, diverse culinary traditions, and a deep cultural appreciation for food, I developed a strong connection to the kitchen at an early age. Lima’s dynamic food scene—renowned for its creativity, heritage, and world-class dining—inspired me to pursue a career in the culinary arts. This foundation has guided me through my professional path.
Where can you find Chef when he is not in the kitchen? He finds balance and inspiration outdoors, especially biking through the summer and staying active through various outdoor sports. At home, he enjoys spending time with his family. Some of his most meaningful moments are spent in the kitchen with his younger kids, who have inherited his love for cooking and are always eager to experiment and learn beside him.
